Philosophy

Create a thriving housing culture that benefits people and the environment

The recent consumer trend of shifting from products to experiences has given rise to a new trend of buying products that come with an associated experience. We believe that it is vital to build stronger relationships with customers as we take them to new heights of living on a whole different level. Our management philosophy which aims to “create a thriving housing culture that benefits people and the environment” lies at the heart of our new homes (products) designed for all different kinds of lifestyles (experiences). In addition to housing we also operate various other businesses, encompassing everything from hospitality to nursing care, as well as agricultural and welfare cooperation, all with an eye toward filling people’s lives with joy. Looking at the road ahead, you will see that Shikishima Housing is changing the very framework of the industry as the journey forward takes us closer to our centennial milestone.

Community development by Shikishima Housing

Shikishima Housing started in September 1962, specializing in single-family homes. Since then, we have actively expanded into the condominium and leasing businesses in response to the needs of the times, and have achieved much over the years. While working to provide people with a place they had be happy to call home, We closely examine the impact development will have on the surrounding environment as well as what community residents would like to see happen. We have been actively working to acquire land not only with the vision of creating communities made up of single-family homes, but also with an eye to revitalizing community spaces and the environment. We always go the extra mile to deliver to customers exactly what they need.

Award-winning community development projects and services that are in harmony with the surrounding environment and offer new ways of living

We focus on community development projects and services that are in harmony with the surrounding environment and expand the horizons for families exploring new lifestyles. These include Sakuraen (Good Design Award 2014), a real estate development model designed to infuse new life into a community while retaining its traditional essence; Rinkyo (Good Design Award 2015), a service that enables parents, children, and siblings to live next door to one another; Key (Kids Design Award 2016), a design system for small urban homes that gives children plenty of space to call their own; and Ohmi-West House with a Breezy Earthen Floor Passageway (Good Design Award 2019), a passive design house that takes advantage of the local climate.
